Fire near JR Yurakucho Station disrupts train services
Bullet train and regular train services were suspended on Friday morning after a fire at a pachinko parlor destroyed nearby buildings, affecting cable systems used by JR to operate trains.
According to police and firefighters, the fire broke out in a pachinko par...lor near JR Yurakucho Station at around 5 a.m. The pachinko parlor and four neighboring buildings were destroyed, NHK reported. More than 50 fire trucks were mobilized to the scene.
No one was injured in the fire, police said.
JR officials were forced to suspended services on the Tokaido Shinkansen between Shinagawa and Tokyo stations, as well as some Yamanote, Tokaido and Keihin-Tohoku services, NHK reported. All services resumed just after midday, JR said.
